Sock wool works very well for babies. It is normally superwash and so can be machine washed and it is usually quite soft as it is designed to be close to the skin. In addition, sock wool has an added nylon content making it hardwearing and stretchy These sets are designed for twoweights of sock wool; one is a DK, and one is an Aran/Worsted weight and both are quick to knit.

Substitute yarns
You can use any DK sock yarn which knits to the same gauge in any colours of your choice or found in your leftover stash. However, make sure it is sock yarn if you want the set to be able to fit all sizes and beyond as sock yarn contains a small amount of nylon (polyamide) that enables the yarn stretch.
