Day of The Dead Throw

See our Dizzy Rascal (Hound) at the top middle of this, and HRH Princess Lily in middle row far right. It is not that clear in this photo, but the Lily greyhound skellie has a little crown a big bow on her neck, and stack of bones near her bowl. The bowl is embroidered with HRH of course.....all very princessy.

Do I have to do a version of me on this throw as well then? Steve is the lanky dancing guitarist, so perhaps it needs a tubby skellie knitter on there....hmmmm.

This is coming along nicely.....cannot decide if this would be a good pattern to include in a kids collection or not?

The Magickal Throw in Texture

Test Knitted and Photographed by Crystalvision

Not everybody gets on with colourwork. I have been running a project recently to get knitters to test the charts in texture only. Knitters have been using a variety of textured stitches such as purl, garter stitch or seed stitch to convert the charts into texture. This is very easy to do for two colour motifs and is a lot faster than working with different strands of yarn.

Magickal Throw
Taino Iguana Symbol: Iguanaboina

This is symbol 21 in the Magickal Throw series and the knitting pattern is now available to download for $1. This is based on an ancient petroglyph cave drawing made by the Taino people of ancient Puerto Rica, who are related to the Arawak people. There are still 5 more symbols to chart and write up after this one.

Progress has been a little slow lately, due to me being numb and floppy down my left side. It is nothing like a stroke though, because the numbness is very patchy and is most likely going to be a trapped nerve somewhere. It is annoying, because I already have numbness and pain in my right arm and rely quite a bit for the touch of things with parts of my left hand. About 10 days ago, I tried to get something from my nightstand and realised that trying to feel for it in the dark, I was more numb than usual and could not feel anything. I kept dropping stuff too that normally would have stayed in the hand despite weak grip. I have still been knitting, but it happens slowly and a little painfully.

Even reading my Kindle is causing some discomfort. I don't feel steady on my feet either, and I have no idea if it will go back to normal. I can't say seeing the doctor has been very useful, he is just watching and waiting...but what for I am not sure. I struggled to get there this week, and have been told to come back again in 2 weeks time...I realise there is not a lot he can do but being examined without any diagnosis or treatment is not helping the problem.
